Death-Stranding-How-to-Soothe-BB

BB is such an important part of the Death Stranding experience that it was included as a plastic model in the Collector’s Edition. More than that, it’s pretty much the star of every trailer released so far, outside of Norman Reedus himself. And in the game it’s an important story point but also a big part of the gameplay. Whenever BT’s are around, you’ll surely be glad BB is there. But if it gets too stressed it won’t be able to assist anymore. So here’s how to soothe BB in Death Stranding.

How to Soothe BB

The easiest way to keep BB happy is to simply avoid BT’s in the first place. Of course, you can’t always do that. Once you encounter BT’s, or get into too many fights with MULEs, or just fall down a bunch, BB will get really stressed. This risks him succumbing to autotoxemia, which is basically that BB is too stressed out. The container he floats in, which mimics the conditions within the womb, will turn black and BB will no longer be able to point out BT’s or other dangers. If this happens, the only way to calm BB back down is to head to a Safe House and rest in the Private Room there. But you have options before that occurs, if you act fast.

Once BB starts getting too stressed you can soothe it by holding L1 then pressing down. Sam will take BB off his chest and start to rock him. By default this uses the motion controls within the Dual Shock 4 controller, so just rock it around. Be careful not to move too fast or you’ll start causing stress of your own. You’ll see the meter in the bottom left going up to show that your efforts to soothe BB are working. Just stick to it until you feel safe enough to keep moving.

And that’s how to soothe BB in Death Stranding.
