Death-Stranding-What-does-Recycle-do-and-How-to-Recycle

Death Stranding throws a lot of gameplay concepts at you pretty early on. While we have helped explain a lot of them through our Beginner’s Guide and other how to articles, sometimes we need to drill down on a specific mission or concept. This is the case with recycling, something that you are forced to do within the first few hours of your time in the game. Yet the concept isn’t really broken down for you, leaving many confused. So here’s the answer to what does recycle do and how to recycle in Death Stranding.

What does Recycle do

You’ll first encounter recycling in Death Stranding when you’re tasked with recycling some Chiral Crystals. You can see how to get crystals here, and we’ll also break down how to recycle crystals and other material. Keep reading for that, but let’s explain what recycling even does first. Basically all that it does is break down the object into its base components and store it at the facility. Everything in the game is built on a few basic resources, such as metal and chemicals. Recycling something will break it down into these and add them to the inventory of resources at that location. Inventory isn’t shared though, so make sure you recycle at a facility that you will be returning to often.

How to Recycle

This one’s very simple. All you need to do to recycle stuff in Death Stranding is to head to any facility and activate the terminal. In there is the Recycle option. Choose it to pull up your inventory. This will show any items you’re carrying as well as all your resources on hand, including Chiral Crystals. Choose what you want to recycle and confirm to break it down and add it to inventory. You won’t be able to get the item back, so be careful here.

And that explains what does recycle do and how to recycle in Death Stranding.
