Fortnite-Chapter-3-Season-2-Competitive

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 is nearly over, and there’s a brand-new live event on the horizon that will usher in Season 3 after the conclusion of the war between the IO and the Seven. The most recent Fortnite update introduced the IO Doomsday Device to the island, and it looks like this will be central to the upcoming live event because it’s starting to send out strange pulses. This isn’t the first Doomsday event that Fortnite has done, but this one will most likely have serious consequences given the nature of the conflict from this season. Here’s everything you need to know about the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 live event finale.

When is the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 Finale Live Event?

The Chapter 3 Season 2 finale live event will take place in Fortnite on Friday, June 3, which is the same day that the current Battle Pass expires. Epic Games has not yet revealed the time at which the event will take place, but we do know it will happen right before the servers are shut down for maintenance ahead of the Chapter 3 Season 3 launch just like with any other season-ending live event.

There hasn’t been a true live event in Fortnite since the climactic ending of Chapter 2 Season 8, which saw the island flip over to mark the start of Fortnite Chapter 3. The first season of Chapter 3 introduced new movement mechanics and Spider-Man, and Season 2 added the Zero Build mode. While Chapter 3 has been huge when it comes to new mechanics and crossovers, it’s been lacking in the event department.

Epic Games always announces the timing for live events well in advance though, so keep an eye on the Fortnite Twitter page for details. There are roughly 2 weeks remaining in Chapter 3 Season 2, so expect to see news soon.

Live Event Countdown

Like most Fortnite live events, this one will have a countdown in the lobby once the season gets closer to finishing. The countdown has already been found in the game’s files following the v20.40 update, so all that’s left for Epic Games to do is enable it. That will likely happen after the official announcement is made for the live event.

Epic Games has already begun teasing the live event on social media, so expect the countdown to appear in-game in the next few days. It will definitely appear in the lobby, but don’t be surprised to see it during your matches as well because that’s been the case with a few of the countdown timers in the past.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 Event Leaks

We already know a lot about the Chapter 3 Season 2 live event, and it’s shaping up to be a big one. The IO will activate the Doomsday Device during the event as a last resort against the Seven, and that will most likely be what we’ll play during the event. Energy pulses have already started to come from the Doomsday Device, so things are heating up.

The event will have a special animation for the lobby before it begins, and all players will jump into special tubes in the ground to enter a match when the event begins. This ties into the battle theme, as squads will be deployed in the final battle of the war during the event.

The most exciting thing about the Chapter 3 Season 2 live event is how the Seven plan to counter the IO’s plans, however. The teasers released for the event confirm that Mecha Team Leader (yes, the one from Chapter 1 Season 9) will reappear during the event. Players have speculated that the mech ended up on the moon after its first live event, and its remains can be seen in the new lobby currently live in-game.

Everything points to a battle taking place between the IO and the Seven where Mecha Team Leader is deployed against an IO superweapon. Players may also get to fight on the Seven’s moon base seen in the current lobby, the very same place where the meteor originated from in Chapter 1. What will happen after the event remains to be seen though, but it looks like something space-related will happen in Chapter 3 Season 3.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
