Firmware Update 1.70 on the PlayStation 4 has introduced a number of new features for the console, and those who’ve downloaded the update have discovered that the console now takes voice commands, similar to those found on the Xbox One.
While PS4 users would previously need to use the share button on their Dualshock 4, two new commands allow users to Save and Start Recordings.
Say “PlayStation, Save Video Clip,” and this command will save the last 15 minutes of gameplay. These clips can be edited within the Share Factory, or exported via USB.
Say “PlayStation, Start Video Clip,” and this command will save the next 15 minutes of gameplay, instead of the last.
Users can also change the record time from 15 minutes to something shorter. Game clips can be saved in 1,3,5,10 and 15 minute varieties.
For those with external gameplay capture devices like the Elgato or Hauppauge HDPVR, the ability to disable HDCP protection on the PS4 allows you to bypass using the consoles internal capture features completely.
