Today (August 1) marks the 25th anniversary of Kirby in North America. Kirby’s first game, Kirby’s Dream Land, came out in North America for the Game Boy on August 1, 1992. To celebrate this, Nintendo has started a sale on a bunch of digital Kirby games for the 3DS and Wii U.

For the 3DS, five Kirby games are on sale; two 3DS games and three classic games available via virtual console. The 3DS game Kirby: Triple Deluxe gets its price reduced from $20 to $15 and Kirby: Planet Robobot is reduced from $40 to $30. The three virtual console games have about one or two-dollar price cuts, with 3D Classics: Kirby’s Adventure being $5.24 on sale and Kirby’s Dream Land and Kirby’s Dream Land 2 both being $3.

On the Wii U, seven games are on sale, including one Wii game via eShop and six virtual console games. The Wii game, and later Wii U eShop game, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land has its price reduced from $20 to $15 for this sale. The virtual console games on sale for the Wii U span consoles such as the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS.

These games also have their prices cut by about one or two dollars. Kirby’s Adventure is available for $3.74, Kirby & the Amazing Mirror is $5.24, Kirby Super Star and Kirby’s Dream Land 3 are $6 each and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and Kirby: Squeak Squad are each $7.49.

This sale is slated to go on for only one week, ending at 8:59AM PST on August 8. Kirby is also on schedule to get a new game for the Nintendo Switch, working title Kirby 2018, in (obviously) 2018.
